Some Interesting Uses for Extended Objects

Extended objects can be inserted in Staff, Tab, Rhythm, and Chord lines.  This gives you the opportunity to use Extended Objects in many different ways.  Here are a few tips:

although a V-line can have a bend in the middle (for whammy bar notation, for example), if you simply double click the end point it will be treated as a single straight line

to draw a double box:  (1st line in example below)

enter a box, click on it, hit Ctrl+C to copy it, hit Ctrl+V to paste it over top of the existing box

click on the new box, hit the up arrow key a couple of times, then the left arrow key a couple of times to move it up and to the left

hold the Shift (Shift enlarges, Ctrl shrinks) key down and hit the down arrow key a few times, then the right arrow key a few times.

to draw a drop shadow box:   (4th line in example below)

enter a box, click on it, hit Ctrl+C to copy it, hit Ctrl+V to paste it over top of the existing box

click on the new box, hold the Shift (Shift enlarges, Ctrl shrinks) key down and hit the down arrow key once, then the right arrow key once.

to draw a box around text or something else not associated with a music line put the caret directly above where the box will appear, enter a rhythm line with nothing in it, hit the Insert Bracket toolbar button, choose Box, hit OK, then move and stretch the box as needed.

colored, underlined, or unique font text can be inserted almost anywhere by inserting a blank rhythm line and hitting the Insert Staff Text toolbar button.

slashes, "N/C" text, and other such things can be inserted in Chord Likes by using Staff Text.  See Slashes in Chord Lines for an example.

staff text and bracket text can both have text in color by hitting the dialog's Font button and choosing a color.
