Tip #47 - Use Shift + Arrow keys for multi-staff selection

MusEdit allows you to make selections which extend over several staffs, but it may not be obvious how to do it.

Here's an example of selecting two pairs of note clusters, one in the treble line and one in the tab line. In the first bar, the caret is positioned immediately to the left of the last note in the first cluster .

(1) Hit Shift + Right arrow to select the right end of first cluster and the left end of the second cluster.

(2) Now hit Shift + Down Arrow to extend the selection to the the Tab line.

(3) Finally hit Ctrl+J to join the notes in the selection...

(4) ...then hit any arrow key to unselect the notes

Note that it is important to do things in the right order! If you hit Shift + DOWN Arrow first, you'll select the whole treble line first. You can still extend this whole selection to the Tab line by hitting Shift+Down Arrow, but you'll be selecting more than you intended. Remember: Do Shift+L/R arrow FIRST, then extend the selection up/down.
