MusEdit "Tip of The Day"

Tip #38 - Use Ctrl+T to insert spaces between staff lines

If you hit enter at the end of a staff line you'll get another staff line below the first, with a space between the two staffs. If you've got some low ledger line beamed notes in the first staff and some high ledger line beamed notes in the second staff you'll find that the notes and their beams get "tangled together" because there's not sufficient space between the two staffs.

This problem is easy to solve however: put the caret anywhere in the top line of the two and hit Ctrl+T (Insert Text Line). The two staffs will now be spaced apart better because you've inserted a blank staff line between the two staffs. If you want to finely adjust the space between the two staffs, put the caret in the blank line and hit Ctrl+F to set the font for the line. Even though there's nothing in the line MusEdit will adjust the height of the line to make room for the font you've selected, so a fine adjustment in the point size of the blank line's font has the effect of finely adjusting the space between the two staffs.

Remember, when you insert a line in MusEdit it always goes BELOW the line which currently has the caret, so you always want to put the caret in the line ABOVE where you want the space so the blank line will go below that line!
