Tip #31 - Translating text chord names to chord diagrams
Chord names written as text can be translated to chord diagrams
As you know, MusEdit can do quite a few translations between different types of lines. One translation which you may have overlooked is "Text to Chord Line". In this case chord names which are written in a text line (as opposed to chords written in a chord line) can be turned into chords (with diagrams) in a chord line.
To do this, put the caret in the text line which has the chords, then select Options|Translate|To Chord (Ctrl+Alt+H). This feature will work with multi-line selections too, though you may get some translations you may not have anticipated if MusEdit tries to translate lyric lines...
Here are some of the principles MusEdit follows during this type of translation:
1) Chord names have to be separated by spaces, and have to begin with a capital letter.
AmBb7 EmF   or   em f g7 <-- won't translate
Am Bb7 Em F     Em F G7 <-- will translate
2) MusEdit will only translate chords in the "hard-wired" dictionary -it doesn't look through all your custom designed chords when attempting the translation.
3) MusEdit tries to line the chords up under the names in the text line, but sometimes it guesses wrong and you may have to correct MusEdit's attempt to line up the chords.
