Tip #19 - Use Correct Fingering for Strum and Muted Tab Notes

To enter strum (/) and muted (x) notes on a Tab staff you first select the note style (Alt+/ for strum, Alt+x for muted) then with the caret on the correct Tab string line you enter a fingering digit and the strum or mute will appear in place of the digit.

Hitting any random digit will produce the required strum or mute symbol, but there are at least two reasons it's a good idea to choose the fingering you would use if the note wasn't muted or strummed (as opposed to a random fingering):

1) During MIDI playback MusEdit still plays a sound when it comes upon a muted or strummed note, and it uses the "hidden" fingering to determine the pitch of the sound to play. If you use a random fingering you'll get a random pitch when MIDI play encounters the strummed or muted note, and that won't sound good.

2) If you translate the tab line to treble, MusEdit uses the "hidden" fingering to determine where on the treble staff to put the corresponding muted or strummed treble note. The result may look a bit strange if you use a random fingering.
