Tip #17 - How to Hide Note Stems on Selected Tab Lines

A while ago I wanted to send someone an example of how MusEdit is able to either show or not show note stems on Tab lines. I wanted a single document which showed the same line of tablature both with and without note stems but it wasn't obvious how to do this since View|Show Note Stems On Tab affects ALL lines in a score, and there's no way to toggle this feature line by line.

There is an easy way to accomplish this effect however:

1) Make a copy of the fully "stemmed" line under the original (Shift+Down Arrow, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V)

2) Put the caret in the second line and hit Shift+Down Arrow to select it

3) Hit "w" to make all notes whole notes, which are represented by bare fingering (I intentionally designed whole notes on tab to not have any stem or circle or other ornamentation precisely so you could do this!).

In MusEdit whenever you select a chord, note cluster, or line, hitting one of MusEdit's note codes will change the note value of all the notes in the selection. If there's a mix of up and down notes you'll get a dialog asking you how to handle the mixed note situations so you have complete control over what will happen.
