MusEdit is only available for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2K/XP.
MusEdit should run on any system which runs Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2K/XP, though slower systems might have a slight delay when drawing a lot of complicated notation. Many programs are developed on the fastest, most advanced computers available at the time, but then when you try to run them on slower computers they perform very poorly. The opposite philosophy was taken during the development of MusEdit: it was written to perform well on a slow, older computer, thus ensuring it will run well on all systems!
Basically, MusEdit is a fairly small program (by today's standards), about 2 megabyte in size. The full installation will take up about four megabytes on your hard drive for the program, help files, samples, and system files, if needed. MusEdit should run in as little as 16 Megs of memory. Also, an ink jet or laser printer is recommended for sharp printouts.
You need a MIDI compatible sound card to hear your output
as MIDI sound, but basically every computer with a sound system is MIDI
compatible. No other special MIDI equipment is needed unless you want
to do live MIDI input - but most people get good use from MusEdit without
any need for live MIDI input.
Installation:
To install MusEdit from the installation CD:
- put the CD in your CD Rom drive
- double click on My Computer and then double click on the icon for your CD
Drive
- double click on the folder called "MusEdit - Installation"
- read the HowToInstall document if you wish, but basically the next
step is to double click on MusEdit-Setup and follow the
standard
program installation steps
When you first order MusEdit (or if you have received free update instructions) you will be able to download the same installation files you would receive on the CD. The update instructions you receive when you follow the update link will give you all the steps to follow to install MusEdit with the downloaded files.
