MusEdit is initially set up for guitar in standard tuning, so when you enter a Tab line or a treble/Tab line group the Tab will have six staff lines, tuned to E A D G B E. MusEdit will handle Dulcimer notation as easily as guitar notation, but you have to follow a few simple steps to set things up for Dulcimer first...
1) Start a new MusEdit score:
2) Tell MusEdit what kind of tuning you are planning to use...
then when the TAB Tuning dialog appears...
3) Enter a Tab line or a treble/Tab line group...
or...
4) If you wish, set your Dulcimer tuning as the "default tuning"...
then when the Preferences dialog appears...
After you set the default tuning, all new scores you create with MusEdit will assume you want to use Dulcimer tuning for all your Tab lines.
Entering Notation...
Now you have a score with either a Tab line or a treble/Tab line pair ready for you to enter music. You can enter notation in several different ways:
1) Click on the symbols tool box to pick up a symbol and "plop" it onto the treble line of a treble/Tab line pair, or else to set the note type for the Tab line.
2) Enter numbers on the Tab line using your computer's keyboard.
3) Click on the virtual fretboard to enter notation onto either the treble or Tab line.
Please see How To Enter Music for more details...
Finally, if you have any questions about how to use MusEdit for any of your notation needs, feel free to send an e-mail to Yowza Software ( info@musedit.com ) or call 800-234-0427 at any time.
